After going through all stages f the fighting- on the we.rtern front ith the 151st Machine Gun battal- on of the Rainbow division and be- ng cited for bravery. Lieutenant William Cann of Savannah has een reported absent wltnout leave. When the special train bearing 16 battalion passed through Savannah on its way to Macon this morning. Lieutenant Cann dlsap- eared and the train came on to aeon without him. He did not how up during the day and no ord wag received from him by Colonel Wino. It is presumed that le lieutenant was unable to resist he temptation to drop in on his lomefolks and preferred to get s only black mark of the war rather than go by without seeing lem. During the time the 151st battalion was in France. Lieutenant ann acted as as of company A. succeeding Captain Paler who was promoted to major nd transferred. He was wounded twice and mentioned in official or- ers for bravery. His record -was among the best of any of the of- CPrs of the battalion. Dr. 3. M. Foster pastor of the Methodist church at Swatnsboro. was among those here today to reet the 151st Machine Gun battalion. Incidentally he welcomed lome two of his five sons who are erving in the army they being J. and R. A. Foster both members f the Old Macon Volunteers. It was happy meeting between the father and sons. They learned that heir mother had fractured her wrist In a fall early in the week nd could not come to Macon. Dr. Foster stated today he expected all his sons to reach home within a few days and he is mak- ng- plans for a big family reunion J. H. Foster was gassed and R. A.
