WILLIAMF. QUILLIAN TO GO t AS MISSION A QY TO MEXICO Brunswick Ga Jjovember 7. Spe- clal. It was learned on good authority here today that Rev. William F. Quillian who for the past six years has been connected with Wortnen college ati'Wrigbtsville Ga would be appointed by Bishop Atkins as a missionary to Mexico. 'tit Is understood that Professor Qull- lian will be given the First Methodist chnroh at Monterey which is the lead- Ing'.church in the Monterey district. This announcement will come as a tarprlse to the members of the south Georgia conference as Mr. Qullllan hag 'gained quite a reputation for his exec- Utfve ability In managing Worthen college having been largely responsible for the. construction of the new 4OOCO brick building at Wrightsvllle and for 'his ability to preach being classed as one of the most eloquent ministers and deeply-spirited members of the south Georgia conference and many of the leading charges it is understood would have been glad to have had Mr 3ulillan as their pastor. From Family of Preachers. -Professor Qullliah belongs to the tarn. H"y of Quilllans which has produced probably- more ministers within the past cenfury than an yother family in the south. He is the third son of the late Dr. William F. QuIHlan who founded the Qullllan lectureship at Emory college. -He was -graduated from that institution in ISO and since that time tias been engaged In educational work maintaining at the same time his conference relation with the South Georgia confer coca. Well Known In Atlanta. Professor Qullllan is well known in Atlanta having lived lit Atlanta several years go and baying spent several months In that city during the past summer .during which time he preached frequently at St Paul's Methodist church. Monterey. the city to whlh Professor Qullllan goes contains 80,000 Inhabi tants between five and- si thousand of whom it is understood are Amen. cans and It Is learned that the city is rapidly becoming Americanized being WILUAM F. QUILLIAN. Young Georgian who goes to Mexico as a Missionary. only about one hundred miles from the boundary line of Texas. The city has a most excellent climate and is located about 2,500 feet above the level of the sea. 4 This field presents unusual opportunities for religious work there being located there a coeducational Methodist college and the bishop believing Professor to be the best fitted available man for the difficult work 'will appoint him to the First church at Monterey.
