A pleasant family reception was held last evening at the home -of -of Mr. anil Mrs. John' Dougherty of Port Griffith, the 'occasion' being a farewell dinner tendered to Rev. E. S. Phillips of Plains, Avho Is brother of Mrs. Dougherty, and who is to leave on New Year Day to assume the rectorship of St. Gabriel's Church in Hasleton. The members of Mr. and Mrs. Dougherty's family were present. ' Among them were Mr. and Mrs. W. H. McAnlff of Wilkes-Barre. Wilkes-Barre. Wilkes-Barre. Dr. and Mrs. Dougherty of Ashley and - R R Dougherty, a medical student at Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia. Rev. ' Father Flttmaurice, who is to succeed Father PhUlips, will also assume assume charge on Saturday afternoon. An Informal reception will take place in the basement of the church, when the new pastor will be Introduced - by ,ReVr Father Phillips to the parishioners. The latter Will leave Immediately afterward v for Hasleton He will be accompanied ' by bis niece. Miss Dougherty, who will assume charge of th household affairs. ' AND VICINITY attendance. After the services at the home, which were brief, the cortege moved to the Broad Street Methodist Church, where the services proper were neia. Revr David McDonald. friend of the family, had charge. He waa assisted by Rev. Carl Councilman ana Rev. Dr. Bradshaw. Mr. McDon aid delivered a consoling address, after which a quartet consisting of Mrs. D. Wiley, Miss Ida. Speeca and Misses Matthew and Staley sang. The pall bearers were Thomas Huntley, C. is. Smith. F. A. Flock, J. B. MacDonald, C. R. Oliver and John Hall. Jr. Those present from a distance were: J. H, Lewis, Miss May Lewis, Tonawanda, N. Y Mrs. James Lindsay. Way mart; Mr. and Mrs. James Lindsay,, Jr., Miss Vina Lindsay, W. E.
