Services Held for James W. Swank Lebanon, June 3 (Special) Funeral Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. today at the Howe funeral home for James William Swank, 95, who died Thursday .afternoon at the home of his son-in-law son-in-law son-in-law son-in-law son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Rriy Gleu son, with whom he had"made his,' home since 1941. Mr. Swank, the eldest son of Phillip and Sarah Swank, wus born March 3, 1849 in Noble county, county, 0 and crossed the plains with his parents in 1852. They spent their first winter in Oregon City. Then they moved to Washington county, where his parents took up a donation land claim. He came to live with his grandparents near1 Sandridge to start school in 1857.'; His parents later bought a farm I near Tallmun. In 1867 and 1868 he attended the old Santiam academy academy at Lebanon. When a young man he purchas ed a farm near Tangent, and wos , married to Anne E. Parker, wno died in 1889. In 1890 he married Clara Belle McMeeken, and they with their family moved to Albany Albany in 1919 where they lived until Mrs. Swank died May 31, 1937. Mr. Swank came to Lebanon Lebanon in 1941. He is survived by three daughters, daughters, Mrs. Harry Wilkins, Portland; Portland; Mrs. Victor Yules, Ookville, and Mrs. Ray Glcason; nine living living grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; greatgrandchildren; two brothers, J. H. and Jesse Swank, both of this community, and many nieces and nephews. He was a membor of the Christian Christian church, Albany, lOOF lodge No. 4 and Rebekuh lodge, and of Sandridge years. grange for over DO I ;
