Richard Wayne Gardner Sr. Richard Wayne Gardner Sr., 71, of Bay street, Venice, Fla., and 608 Fifth street, Tyrone, died Monday, Oct. 17, 1983 at 2 p.m. at his Tyrone residence. He had been in failing health for the past 12 'years. He was born Nov. 3, 1911 at Tyrone, the son of Frank and Margaret LaPorte Gardner. On Dec. 25,1940 at the home of the bride in Tyrone, he was married to Helen Marguerite Elder. He |s survived by his wife, two sons, Richard Wayne Jr., of Tyrone, and David E., of Altoona, and five grandchildren. grandchildren. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Tyrone, and Howard Gardner Post 281 American Legion. A United States Army veteran of World War II, he received the Purple Heart after being wounded in action with the Third Army in Europe. He retired on disability in 1974 from the Chicago Rivet and Machine Co. as a machinist after 23 years of service. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, Tyrone, with Pastor Alan Smith and the Rev. Albert Shope officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood. Contributions in his memory may be made to the building fund of Grace Baptist Church, Columbia avenue, Tyrone. Arrangements are under the direction of the Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone. •
