For several days tho men noticed a mound on their travels travels through the woods and at last led by curiosity decided to excavate It. Procuring spades they fell to work and after digging down to a depth of about four feet wore surprised to find the bones of a large human foot protruding protruding through the earth, Digging further they gradually uncovered tho perfect frame of a giant. The skeleton was nearly eight feet in height and tho arms extended several several inches below the hips. Burled with tho bones were numerous stono weapons and trinkets. Among these were a curious stone hatchet, a copper copper knife, several strange copper rings and a necklaco mado of the tusks of some prehistoric animal. The skeleton skeleton Is no doubt that of an Indian who was ono of a tribe of giants who roamed roamed this part of tho state over one thousand years ago. Last year near Monlco, there was unearthed the bones of a human arm three feet in length. This former discovery goes to show that tho Pell- can Lake giant was not alone on earth. The Clilppewa Indlans'of our present present day tell many legends regarding tho prowess and strength of the members members of their tribe of moons back. One tale is of a big chief warrior who was over ten arrow lengths high and had sufficient strength to uplift tall trees by the roots and hurl huge bowlders through tho air. Of course this Is only an Indian fable, but It Is generally known that the Wisconsin Indians were at one time a powerful race of men. The Chicago men will present the skeleton to some geological museum.
