a it Our Sentiments Too. at the L. Jav and of late in the The resi)ect expressed by all classes here for His Honor, Judge Shackelford, notwithstanding his vigorous enforcement of the law, is perhaps the highest compliment that could be paid a public official. Judge Shackelford's course in dealing dealing with offenders has been fearless fearless and courageous. He has met the emergency that existed at the time of his appointment by the President, and by wise and" able administration of the law has within within a short time brought order out of chaos. No more conscientious or painstaking Judge could have been chosen for the position. Our people are proud of Judge Shackelford. Shackelford. He has the esteem, respect and support of all classes. His decisions at all times are received and treated with respect. There is not a lawyer practicing at this bar who does not acknowledge his a'Mlity and fitness, and the Herald has yet to hear of any one who does not honor him. Ills conduct as a man is upiighl and exemplary; his character, chaste as a woman's. While he often tempers justice with nicrcy the law-breaker is taught that if he violates the law there is no escape from punishment. The Herald had rather deal in criticism than pay compliment, anil its editorial columns will sel- lom hear testimony to any ones worth. It knows however that it refiects the unanimous sentiment of our people when it says that Judge .Shackelford is justly entitled to every word of encomium we have written. May he long live to ad*minister ad*minister justice and preserve thereby thereby the guarantee of liberty which every citizen now enjoys under our republican form of government.— Choctaw Heralti, it of
