Phillips briefly stressing the importance of Independence Independence day and its significance significance in the world today, pointing pointing out that this ceremony being held simultaneously with a national observance led by President Roosevelt. Tbe band played "The Star Spangled Banner" Banner" and Mayor Phillips led the audience in a pledge of allegiance allegiance to the flag. Winners in the morning parade, n which prizes of $200 were offered, included: Civic division--Music Mothers, first; Wa-Tan-Ye, second. Patriotic division--W. R. C, 'irst; D. U. V., second. Rural--Loyal Queens -l-lf club ot Mount Vcrnon and Union MARGIE NUZUM --Queen of celebration townships, first; Lincoln Peppy
