Title Claiming Gary Team Places Halfback Gunn And Conners, Johnson Of Kimball Are Selected By CECIL K. H. (SCOTTT) SCOTT Charleston, W. Va., Dec. 17.—Perhaps 17.—Perhaps the depression can be blamed for such good all-state tootball material material among the colored high schools for the eeventh-annual West Virginia All-State football team for 1932. Two of the most popular players named on the team were Johnson, tackle of Kimball, and Richardson, halfback of Garnet. Both are former all-state selections for 1931. Among the leading teams of the season are Gary high school, claiming claiming the state football championship. Kimball, Dunbar, of Fairmont, Ara- «oma, of Logan, and Kelley Miller, of Clarksburg. Good Backfleld The quarterback position goes to James Jackson, of Dunbar, Fairmont; Fairmont; his most outstanding exploit of the season perhaps was when his team played Aracoma high of Logan, vhen he completed nine passes oue of nine. Richardson, of Garnet, and Gunn of Gary, make an Ideal pair for the halfback positions; Richardson is a good open field runner, can punt and is a good passer. Gunn has been a powerful figure on the Gary back fleld all season and is one of the reasons why Gary has not been defeated defeated this season. Some of the best football critics in the state rate Price, Genoa, 185 pound star, as the best fullback in the state; Price ie good at running, passing, can kick and Is a great plunger; he Is the best punter on the team and perhaps best In the whole state; his average distance is forty-five yards; In the Kimball game ha panted three for over sixty yards. Strong, Fast Line. For the past several years good ends bSjye been hard to develop. Kelley Miller boasts Evans, and Kimball has Conners. Evans is one of the hardest smashing ends of the stato, and like Conners, who Is a former all-state end, is good at receiving receiving passes and going down under punts. Both are experienced and good ends. The best pair of tackles are Israel, of Dunbar, and Johnson, of Kimball, former all-state tackle. Johnson la the talk of the southern section of the state. Carter, of Garnet, who has been shtfted from tackle to guard, has played, a stalwart game all season without one single letup. - Fllppen Is a natural guard; he leads the interference interference on offence and no team has sained over his side of the line this season. He Is a smart player and stays the full four quarters of the game. Fllppen halls from Genoa. Parrlsh, of Aracoma, a splendid passer, is placed at center. The AU State Team Quarterback, Jackson, Dunbar (Fairmont); halfback, Richardson, Garnet. (Charleston); halfback, Gunn, Gary: end, Evans. Kelley Mil' ler, (Clarksburg); end, Conners Kimball; tackle, Israel, Dunbar, (Fairmont); tackle, Johnson, Kim' ball; guard, Carter, Garnet, (Charleston); (Charleston); guard, Fllppen, Genoa; center. center.
