MTSTEBY OF A SHOOTCtGL - - Friends Beltered t Hnre - BaC a Falling Out f PETALtrilA December 12 Harry Maynarda druggist and a man named Winnie Oossage ioth of Petaluma left town In a buggyat Sbclocklastinlght ostensibly to go to Fair anch at Lakeville to visit friends Near Fairs ranch they stopped at - asaloon conducted conducted by cne Collins the manager of the ranch - Collins says they purchased a number of drinks and Maynard tried to get Gossage who has a reputation - as a fighter to do up Collins but he was not on the fight and the counle left to gether at midnight This morning Gos sage was found shot through the shoul der lying in the barn on the Dowd ranch near by He refuses to say how he was injured He was out in the cold several hours Maynard went to Fairs ranch and remained over night It is believed they had aflghtThe horse ran away and was - found this morning tied to the railing and blanketed at a saloon two miles from town The saloonkeeper saloonkeeper - had caught it Gossage was brought to town - - Neither he nor Maynard wUl speak of the difficulty
