a it or of PROHIBITION AGENTS BRING PROPRIETORS OF BOTH PLANTS TO FREEPORT Prohibition agents from the Chicago commissioner's office, operating in the vicinity of Galena and East Dubunue, arrested Leonard Hartung. farmer, residing three miles south of Hazel Green. Wis.. and continuing their work later in Galena wrecked a miniature brewery operated by Phillip Greibe. Both Hartung and Greibe were brought before United States Commissioner S. M. Vance for hearing afternoon, and furnished the sum of $1,000 each.! Saturday bonds in Hartung being bound over to the | federal court and Greibe to have a preliminary hearing Feb. 24. Both were charged with manufacture and possession. The Hartung farm, located a half mile from the main traveled road, contained on the premises a 100- gallon capacity still, with which was found 24 barrels of mash of 50 gallons each, 15 gallons of "first run" moonshine liquor, 8 sacks of corn sugar, gasoline pressure pump, and other equipment for operating the still, representing an investment of about $1,000. At the Greibe residence located on an alley between Elk and Franklin streets, Galena, the raiders with only "smell" evidence, swooped down on a 2,000-gallon capacity brewery in the basement of the house and found Greibe busy dumping the contents of a 2,000 gallon capacity vat and the basement floor covered with beer to the depth of several inches. No finished product was found and the raiders took only enough S 7 mp fes from both^ places enter*I to | the Greibe home cost not less than use as evidence.
