Heat Kills Four Hoosiers In Knox Co. VINCENNES, Ind. (UPI) — Knox County coroner P. W. Mischler has ruled four county deaths last week could be attributed to the heat. The deaths bring to at least eight the number of Hoosler deaths attributed to the summer heat. Gloria Drogich, 51, Bicknell, died in her home Friday of a heart attack caused, by heat stroke, Mischler said. The body of Betty Duncan, 49, Vincennes, was found in her apartment Wednesday. Mischler said a heat-induced heart attack caused the death, and said Ms. Duncan's body was badly dehydrated. William Snider, 62, Vincennes, was found, in a car in the visitors' parking lot at Good Samaritan Hospital Thursday night, the probable victim of heat stroke, Mischer said. Snider had been missing since Tuesday. Gertrude Couch, 71, Vincennes, was found in her home Thursday. Mischler estimated Ms. Couch died sometime Tuesday. The temperature in her home was about 150 degrees when she wa« found. Heat stroke and heat exhaustion caused her death, Mischler said.
