EH I I Iff ELF FORMER MERCER COUNTY WOMAN DIES IN FIRE AT CONNEAUT LAKE. In a fire which caused considerable damage to the Iroquois Hotel at Conneaut Lake, the other night, Mrs. Ramsey, mother of Mrs. C. W. Griggs formerly of Hickory township, met death. Both Mi', and Mrs. Griggs suffered severe burns, Mrs. Griggs being taken to the Meadville hospital. Mr. Griggs and family formerly lived in Hickory township, where for seven years he was principal of the Hickory high school. He has been in charge of the Conneaut Lake schools and Mrs. Griggs has been conducting the hotel. Just how the fire started is not known. It was discovered by one of the Griggs children and when the blaze was finally extinguished Mrs. Ramsey's body was found back of ; the door in one of the bedrooms. It is believed she may have suffered a stroke and dropped a lighted lamp. Mrs. Griggs succeeded in rescuing the hcildren. Mrs. Griggs was burned in an attempt to enter the hotel to secure some valuables.
