,8 «M-WI Verostko Sets New Mark in Winning City Championship Gene Verostko, maintaining His torrid pace, fired a one-under-par 69 yesterday at the Allendale course, to win his sixth city medal play golf championship and establish establish a new record for the 72 hole tournament. Verostko was nine-under-par for the tourney, breaking Warren Artz' previous record of 277 for the four-round event by two strokes. In setting his tremendous pace the champion finished a full 13 strokes ahead of Mark Fisk who took second place honors with a two-under 68 for a total of 288 Joe Higgins 'captured the third spot with 290. REA PARK won the Tribune-Star Team Championship with a total of 1,162 which also set a n tournament record. Over $2,000 in prizes and trophies trophies will be awarded at the annual annual banquet Thursday night, Sept. 4. at the Elk's Country Club at 7 o'clock. Gene Moses, who finished at the (op of the eighth flight with 373, had an additional reward yesterday yesterday when his eight iron shot from the sixteenth tee rolled in the cup for a hole-in-one.
