TROOP 494 Troop 494 recently completed completed steps toward earning the Backyard Fun Badge. They are working on this badge as a group. The first step was a field trip to the Burke Baker Planetarium In Houston and a picnic lunch nearby. The girls were transported In private cars by several of the girls' mothers and Mrs. Betty Keith and Mrs. Irma Bartee, leaders. At a later date, the girls went on a bike hike to the Lake Jackson Park and prepared prepared and enjoyed a cookout while there. Mrs. Bartee and Mrs. Keith and several mothers rode bikes with the girls. During the holidays, the girls took time out from this particular badge work and participated In a service project project which was thoroughly en- Joyed by all. Each girl brought two foods from home, and with troop funds purchased a ham and prepared a food basket for the Texan Nursing Home. The girls presented the food and a card hand made by them and signed by each of them to the Home. Several mothers, Mrs. Keith, Mrs. Bartee, and Mrs. BrendaOrr,another leader, together with the girls sang carols and visited throughout the home. The following girls participated participated in one or more of the activities: Karole Keith, Linda Stork, Carol Talbot, Brenda Jernlgan, Mary Cleaver, Becky Porter, Karen Bettln, Kathy Patterson, Dawn Keith, Marsha Courtney, Ruth Russell. Candice O'quinn, Susan Danford, Janet Jernlgan, Pam McDaniel, Jana Cuba, Anita Parrlnello, Deborah Heddlesten, Heddlesten, Garnett Vernor, Cheryl Matlock, MarySabla- tura, Gay Bartee, Sandy Mays, Debbie Moon, Nanette Easter, Kim Golden, and Connie Chandler. Prior to the holidays the girls had a Christmas party. Cupcakes and lime sherbert punch was enjoyed by all and an exchange of gifts was the highlight of the party.
