Flanscha 63rd Anniversary
63rd anniversary- MR. AND MRS. HERMAN FLANSCHA Mr. and Mrs. Herman Flanscha will be observing their 63rd wedding anniversary on April 23, 1977. The Flanschas are presently residing at Sunrise Guest Home in Fredericksburg. Martha Raether was born in 1890, and at the age of two years her family came across from Germany by ship. They settled near Algona, Iowa. Herman Flanscha was born in 1893 in Buck Creek, Iowa. Marthtt and Herman first met on a merry-go-round in their early twenties at Westgate, Iowa. They were married on April 23, 1914. Their honeymoon was by horse and buggy to Fredericksburg. They lived in Sumner, Westgate and Oran where they farmed. In 1935 they moved to Marengo where Herman managed a creamery. In 1936 they moved back to Sumner and lived there until August of 1973, at which time they began to make their home at Grandview Nursing Home in Oelwein. In April of 1974 they transferred to Sunrise Guest Home. They are the parents of Mrs. Lorenz (Viola) Albrecht of Fredericksburg; Luella Tegtmeier and Mrs. Alfred (Leona) Buhr, both of Sumner; Mrs. Clarence (Ruth) Boeckman of Tripoli and Herbert Flanscha of Janesville. They also have 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Flanscha will spend Sunday, Apr. 24, in the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lorenz Albrecht, anu with the rest of their family.
