US AC Sanctions Stock Race at PIR in Winter U.S. Auto Club confirmed yesterday it would sanction a late model stock car race Jan. 28 at Phoenix International Raceway. J. C. Agajanian, racing director for yesterday's Bobby Ball Championship, will promote the 250-mile race on the track's 2.7 mile road racing course. Henry Banks, USAC's director of competition, said his group has "a working agreement" which will allow NASCAR drivers to compete with the USAC drivers. The race will be the Sunday following the annual Riverside, Calif., 500 miler. That event is NASCAR sponsored, but USAC allows its drivers to compete. Top USAC stock pilots include Parnelli Jones, Mario Andretti, A. J. Foyt and Don White, with Richard Petty, David Pearson and Leroy Yarbrough prominent on the NASCAR circuit.
