saved fOUR MEN SHOT. Farmers Living Near Brush Hill En fca*e In a.Bloody Battle With . Sertous .TJesults. A tierce and. bloody battle with Winchesters took place out near Brtish Hill, twelve miles west of Checotah. Wednesday morning. Bad Smith and Silas Graham are near neighbors and until recently were friends, but trcv-ial rnatters have arisen between them on several occasion un'til finally they became antagonistic to each other. As near as can be learned some little misunderstanding^arase be tween them early Wednesday morning, which was taken up by ' the sons of each. With but little ceremony Smith's soli struck Grabam on the head with a rock and immediately all parties went to their homes and secured Winchesters.. When they returned Graham Opened fire, [•the other three followed suit and when "the smoke had cleared away" all were mortally wounded, Smith trying in a few minutes. All cot)'-, cerned were respectable, prosperdus farmers and the affair is deeply regretted by all their neighbors and friends. Dr. J. M. Vanderpool was called out to see them and reports that all are in a serious condition and but little hope for them to recover. Since the above was written Dr. Vanderpool informs- us that Mr. Graham and htS son have removed to Checotah for treatment and are now under his care Their conditions are more favorable now than first reported and there is a hope of their recovery. Young Smith is at his home at Hrush lli'.li and is still in a serious condition^ with little hope of his life bei_ng
