SHELTON BOYS FILL BONDS FOR CAGLE'S SLAYING Found to Have Been in Williamson County Jail all Time (Special to Free Press) ., HERRIN, III., March 25—Earl and Carl Shelton, the two who figured prominently in the coroner's Inquest into the slaying of Constable Caesar Cagle, and indicted on the charge of murder of Cagle, filed today with Judge Bowen a $24,000' bond each. The amount of each, of the bonds was $12,000 but double qualification was - required. The Sheltons are charged with the murder of Cagle, who was slain on the night of February~Sth v when the new outbreak occurred; following a series of wholesale dry raids led by S. Glenn Young, paid" employe of the Ku Klux'Klan. The whereabouts of 'the Sheltons was not known. Some believed they had heen spirited-to other zones, but when they 'appeared for bond it was discovered that they had been in the Williamson county jail, but the sheriff had not revealed their presence for fear of violence. While the klan looked for them they remained In. jail amd only;a few deputies knew the men were in jail.
