It sse'ms as If Freeport had a, "mania" for winning" pome- thing this year—well, Its a good one, so we hope* will last. , The victory last Saturday Was really really a splendid .one. Toll khow, the locals finished first—six-points ahead of Rocktort,,their nearest competitor. There were a".'total of one hundred hundred and twenty students entered in the contest, and it certainly Acorns as though the, Frecpdrters came through excellently. -'''..' Alfred Koester, who took part In the eighty and one hundred word shorthand dictation, Was high scorer for Freeprt. He gathered five points from the individual contests, and was a member of both the eighty and one hundred word teams. Both of theso teams won second pldce, and collected collected a total of four points for Freeport. The standings of the winning Free* port teams and individuals vire as follows: :•' Sixty- Word Dictation Team: • Lois Chitty SS% accuracy. Garnet Jeffery 93% .accuracy. Lucile Pack 80.5% accuracy. Marjorle Glasser 90% accuracy. The .team took second place with an average of 90.1%. None of those entered in the Individuals placed. Eighty Word Dictation Team: . : , .. •; . Alfred Koester 93.3% accuracy J Irene .Wieneke 97% accuracy. / Ruth Mr., 86.7% accuracy. . Alice Kinney 84.7% accuracy. This team placed second in thl* event, with a team average of 94%. In the individual contest, Alfred Koester took first place. Irene- Wieneke second, and Ruth Atz third. Hundred Word Dictation Team: r Alfred Koester 92% accuracy. Irene Wleneko 84% accuracy. Ruth Atz .84% accuracy. The one hundred .word dictation team placed second with an average of 86.7.%. In the individual contest, Alfred Koester took second place, and Ruth Atz and Irene Wieneke tied for third. Junior Typing Team: Ruth Brtmer 43 net words a minute. -Harriet Wallahan 30.5 net words a minute. Leslie Witte 30.0 net words ft minute. Ruth Stocks 0.0 net words a minute. minute. -. The team placed third with -an average of 25,9 net words a minute. Ruth Bremer placed first in the individual individual contest. , Bookkeeping In'the bookkeeping contest.(it has been rumored that it was very difficult) difficult) Lucille Pack placed first, with 7S.3% and Lprna third, with 71.3% ' an average of Clingman placed for an average. The Senior typing team, while it did not win, -would have placed fourth if the place had been awarded,. The Freeport teams -ended with a total of 23 points.
