of , MAYOR A. T. CONNELL SUES SCRAJTONIAN Chief Executive of City Asks $25,000 Damages for Alleged Libel. Mayor Alex T. Connell yesterday started suit in common pleas court against the Scrantonian Publishing company, of which Richard Little is president, for $25,000 damages. He alleges he was libeled by the publication publication of a story in the Scrantonian Sunday, Sunday, January 13. Attorneys David J. Reedy and Frank E. Donnelly are for the mayor. Another libel suit against the Scrantonian Scrantonian was also started yesterday In United States court by Harry Lustlg, of Jessup, who asks $10,000 for the publication of a story last Sunday, In which Lustlg is alleged to have stolen an automobile and to have forgeo checks. His attorneys are D. J. Reedy and Joseph F. Gtlroy. Mayor Connell's attorneys filed no statement, although they announced that they would do so in a few days. They said the mayor is basing his claim for damages on an article dealing dealing with the appointment of Helemlna Heil to the position of cashier in the city treasurer's office. Counsel for the mayor said they have also been retained by Mrs. Heil to sue the Scrantonian Publishing company. Papers in the case will likely likely be filed today.
