The amount of lumber sold in this city since the 1st day of last January aggregates $1,000,000, and as the lumber in a house represents about one-fourth one-fourth one-fourth of its cost, our frame buildings alone have cost fully $4,000,000. Adding to this the cost of the many substantial and ornamental brick structures erected on Broadway and vicinity the total amount will be swelled to from $4,500,000 to $5,000,000.
