was m a n \ri Â«iv an- George Settle Succumbs At 81 George W. Settle, 81. of 412 City Avenue, died at hi* residence at 7:30 a. m. today after suffering suffering a heart attack. He was bom in Fayeite County Aug. 3-1, Mr. and 1877, Mrs. a son of the late Richard Settle. A retired coal miner, he had- worked 50 years. He was a member of the Portsmouth Baptist Church. His wife, Mary Garten Settle, preceded in death in 1955. Surviving are two sons, Dorsey, Beckley, and Carl. Skelton; four daughters. Mrs. Hallie Wise and Mrs. Oshie Marshall, both of Washington, D. C.: Mrs. William Blees. Levit'uown, Pa., and Mrs. Roy Boyd. Fayetteville; two stepdaughters, stepdaughters, Mrs. Lannie Shumake, Pax: and Mrs. Iva Webb, Portsmouth, Portsmouth, Va.; two brothers. Sam. Whipple, and Oliver, Mossy; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Bennett, Montjfomery: Mrw. Eva Shakey, Mindk-n, and Mrs. L. B. Ne-al. Warwick, Va.; nine grandchildren and five Rreat-grandchiWren. The body is at Rose and Qae-s- en berry Funeral Home pending completion of wrangemenls.
