DEATH CLAIMED HIM. Former Senator Briggs Dies at HI Home in Trenton. Trenton, N. J,, May 8. Former United States Senator Frank O. Briggs died tonight at his home in this city. He had been ill for several months and lapsed into a state of coma this morning from which he never rallied. Funeral arrangements have not been, completed. Mr. Briggs was born in Concord, N. H., in 1851, and was graduated from West Point Military academy in 1872, afterward serving as second lieutenant in the United States iufantry. Besides serving a term in the United States senate, he was a former state treasurer and at one time mayor of Trenton. During his term in the sen- ate, which ended March 4 last, Senator Briggs was chairman of the committee on incidental expenses. He was chairman of the republican state committee in two gubernatorial campaigns. Held for Grand Jury.
