THE MOUNTAIN SIDE IS PRODUCTIVE W. Rossow was in from his ranch on the Anderson valley road Saturday and reports everything fine in his sec tion. Mr. Rossow is on the old Fin ney ranch and reports that he has the finest orchard spot in the world. He now has about fifteen acres mostly apples and will plant more. He has greatly improved the ranch since he has owned it and has it mostly under good fence. He also has some Symvna figs and gets two crops a year from them. When he bought the ranch was told that he could not raise alfal fa there but now has a nice alfalfa patch which he irrigates ahd cuts from five to six crops a year from it. He is of the opinion that in a few years the hill land of Mendocino county will be all settled with eastern homeseek- ers and that it will be very productive. The altitude of his ranch is about 2400 feet. lie
