Collins group to enter float The James L. Collins Catholic School Parent Teachers Club met last Monday in the school cafeteria with Mrs. Jerome Vacek, co-president, presiding over the business meeting. Business conducted by the members consisted of discussing plans for a float entry in the Jaycees Christmas Parade which will be held the evening of Monday, Nov. 30. The program speaker was Sister Caroleen Hensgen, Superintendent of the Dallas Diocese of Catholic Schools. The topic of her talk was “Teachers and Parents—Working Together to Meet the Needs of the Students.” She suggested ways that parents and teachers can work together to give the children the very best home life and education possible. A musical program of Thanksgiving songs was presented by grades 1-4, under the direction of Linda Ross, Jeannie May and Joann McCaleb—faculty McCaleb—faculty members—and David Penque, Collins Catholic principal. Second and third grade home room mothers served refreshments. The officers of the Collins Catholic Parent Teachers club are Jerome and Dorothy Vacek, co-presidents; Ann Buckmann, first vice president; Jamie Bass, ways and means chairman; chairman; Nikki Wheelock, assistant ways and means chairman; Janet Legrand, room mothers chairman; Sylvia Green, yearbook chairman; Mary Johnson, secretary; Pat Bauer, treasurer; Marlee Redd, reporter; Jean Jones, membership membership chairman, Sue Parks, historian; and Mercy Alonzo, parliamentarian.
