I low many persons do you. think come to Ottawa in the course of a day say, just any Saturday, not a special occasion like a circus or some other attraction? - That is what W. H. Martin, better known to his many friends as "Dad,'? is trying to find out. So far the figures he has obtained show a startling disclosure, such a number of visitors never dreamed of. by your most optimistic town booster. On every tributary leading to Ottawa North and South JSiain, Eastand West Seventh, Logan and other important thoroughfare Mr. ' Mart n has posted young men on certain days to beep tally on every vehicle coming to Ottawa, the number of persons in each vehicle and otuer information ot a similar nature. Mr. Martin has tabulated these figures two or three times and expects to keep it up for several weeks in order to get something tangible to base estimates on Ottawa's trading population. Saturday was the most recent time the figures were compiled and they show that l,96tt persons came into Ottawa during the day and it was not a day conducive to the best trading advantages for those persons who make Ottawa their shopping-center. Farmers were busy in the fields and had to have the "teams, roads were not the best for those who have automobiles, but Mr. Martin's table shows that Ottawa entertained nearly two thousand visitors that day. This great crowd came in over 500 vehicles exclusive of automobiles. Of this latter form of transportation, there were over 200 cars. GIRL WILL GO TO SCOTLAND.
