jWharf Center Development Set w,terflont j Transamer-i the port board adopted a resolu- resolu- tion naming the area between Broadway and Webster Street and Plans for the development of a restaurant center along the Estuary were announced here today by the Oakland Board of Port Commissioners. The program was revealed as First Street and the Estuary as "Jack London Square," in honor of the famous local author. The board pointed out that the area was the scene of his early adventures among the fishermen and oyster pirates of the Bay and where he gained his first interest in the writing profession from an old dictionary in the First and Last Chance Saloon operated by his benefactor,- benefactor,- the late John wit-1 Heinold.
