COLONEL MEHARD BECOMES A BRIGADIER GENERAL CAMP - ANDERSON. MT. GRETNA. Pa., July 2. Major General G. Price. Jr., comma ruling the 28th division, P. N. (I., today 'announced the commission of Colonel Churchill B. Mehard, Pittsburgh, as brigadier general of the 63rd field artillery brigade. General Mehard assumes command of the brigade following the retirement of Brigadier General Asher Miner, Wilkes - Barre, who commanded the 109th field artillery during the World war, and who retired because of war wounds, which still afflict him. Lieutenant Colonel John W. Converse, Philadelphia, assumed temporary command of the 107th field artillery regiment, formerly commanded by General Mehard, until commission is announced. General Mehard's commission Included the 107th field artillery regi ment, Pittsburgh nnd the 109th field artiiery regiment, Wilkes - Barre. General Mehard has been In the Pennsylvania national guard for 21 years. He served overseas with the 321st field artillery of the 82nd division and became commander of the reorganization. He was one of the first four, in 1920, majors commissioned four. In 1920, majors commissioned from Pittsburg training camp.
