Churchill Brown Mehard, 62, World W’ar 11 hero who died here Sunday, likely j will be returned to his native town 1 of Mercer, Pa., for funeral services j and burial, his wife said today. In 1930, he was the principal figure in a consent verdict scandal which sent him and three other attorneys to jail and resulted in the disbarment of a half dozen I others. Named city solicitor of Pitts- a burgh, Mehard in a little over i year agreed to verdicts against | yie c^y ¡n pCrsonai damage cases, without trial, of more than $350,August ; OOO. He was convicted of taking bribes and sentenced taking to three j years in jail. After serving 15 months he was paroled because of failing health. Mehard was a son of Judge Samuel Mehard of the \jprr-er county court and upon his father’s death was reputed to have inherited inherited $1.000,000.
