In connection with nccidon free driving, Postmaster Elme R e q u a said the Austin postn drivers traveled 75,000 miles fron July 1, 1S156 to July 1, 1057 will- out a traffic accident. Figures from the regiona Post Office announced this morn ing showed that rural carriers in this region comprised of Minnesota, North and South Dakota, isconsin and the upper penin- la in Michigan traveled 52,134,8 miles with 89 accidents in the a s t 12-month period. This mounts to .16 accidents per 0,000 miles. 53 YEARS OF ACCIDENT-FREE DRIVING — Postmaster Elmer Requa hands rural route carrier Lauritz Tonding a National Safety Council award for 27 years of accident-free driving in the postal service. Other award winners looking on are W. F. Maloney, 2 years, Guy Yarwood, four years, Horace Crist, 14 years, and Adolph Larson, 2 years. Winning safety awards and not pictured were Charles McGrath, 4 years and Harry M. Menshek, 2 years. Swim Club in 2 Big Events Austin's Swim Club will tnke its first seasonnl plunge into AAU competition with two events coming up in quick succession.
