in Henry Prosser The subject of this memoir was born la Ashland county Ohio on the 25th day of February 1936. In the month of October 1S53 he removed with his parents from Ohio, to Jackson township in DeKalb Co. Indiana, and settled In the woods lie together with his brothers began at once to clear the dense forest, and In a few years there were fields to be cultivated, and a comfortable home was made for their parents in their declining years. When Mr. Prosser was twenty years old, he began life for himself, learning the carpenter's trade, which he followed until the year of 1875; nine years of this time was spent on the railroad in the west, where he acted in the capacity of road master wtween Topeka Kansas and Denlson Texas. This position he filled acceptably to the railroad company, a - f witb credit to himself. It was uuring this time. that he acquired the greater part of the fortune. Resigning his position. he came back to his home, and was united In marriage to Miss Jane Provlnes on 10th of February 182. To them was born a daughter who survives hlui. Mr. and Mrs. Prosser began housekeeping on their present farm, and by hard work, improved it and built for themselves a beautiful and comfortable home. Mr. Prosser was a dutiful son to Lis parents in their declining years, being ever re mindful of their wants and comforts. He was a kind husband, an Indulgent father; he was an obliging neighbor and a respected and honored citizen Mr. Prosser was never identified with any church organization, but was believer in the bible and Christianity and irave liberally of his means toward erecting church edifices, and supporting Christian work. In the deatii of Mr. Prosser the family loses a dear companion aid father, and the community In which he lived, a noble citizen. He leaves to mourn his death a companion, one daughter, three brothers, five sisters, besides many other relatives and friends. Thus after a - long sickness, and intense suffering, lie departed this life Sinday night March 1st, l!H3. at the age of 7 years and 4 days The funeral service was Conducted from Grove Bethel M. E. .church, Jackson township, Wednesday, Marcii 4th at lo:O0 a. m. Interment took place In ttie Woodtawn cemetery j. D. Brosy conducted the service. assisted by Rev. Hart, cf Spencer ville, Indiana. the ed of ed of or - 1
