Feb. 4. CUJO-- County and state officers searched the sandy land near here today for a lanky. khaki-clad gunman who allegedly kidnaped a Mineral Weils woman and told her he a "Cisco bank robber" and ready to "shoot it out" with auy captors. Ilie woman, Mtss Leona Langs- ford, told police here that she forced the bandit into hiding when she drove her car into a filling station here, threw the.ignition keys into the darkness, and set up a series of blood-curdling screams.

The time was 2 A. M. today. Miss Langsford told officers that she offered the man a ride from downtown Mineral to Camp Wolters, two miles east. As they neared the camp he pulled two guns, she said, and forced her to drive to Weatherford.

"Get going," he said, "or you'll be sorry for the He said he was Hill," the only living member of the "Santa Glaus robbers" of the Cisco bank in 1927. He said he had es- caped the state penitentiary where he was serving "a 99 year sentence. 'Iln ready to shoot it out'," the woman quoted him," 'Because if they get me it'll mean death any- way'," More than 20 officers searched the county and blockaded nearby roads in an attempt to pull a drag- net around the gunman, who offi- cers doubted was the "Robert Hill." Hill was reported at Wynne prison farm at HuntsvJlle. Weatherford police released Miss Langsford after questioning. She hasn't been seen since.

Meanwhile Mineral' Wells police found her suitcase and some of her clothing in a hotel there. The room had been taken by Elmo S. Suell. Officers were stationed at the hotel to and question him. He hasn't been seen today, A man's coat and hat was found in Miss Langsford's car, but offi- cers found no trace of the man in their search near here.
