POVEIt, Oct. 14 The that "till the world loves a lovr" and that "true, love will find a way" has cut a wldui swath even tn th courts of justice of this peninsula, arid a woman, literally and morally innocent, though legally guilty of a grave crime has boon released from prison. Tho defendant la Mrs. Lttla HolT-man-Fronch, 20 years old, decidedly beautiful, ft resident of RIclRely and a native of Hickman, Del. She married her second 'husband, John French, believlnK her fire husband, John Hoffman, a sea-faring man, to be both physidally and legally dead, but Hoffman came back during the first year of her wedded life to French.

Before Justice Steele she practically admitted her plight and therefore became legally guilty and ho committed her. Now five thlnxs have worked around Irf her favor, bo that, though legally 'guilty, she Is Innocent and has been releasod without sentence, on her own recognizance. First, Hoffman's heart was softened and he fled and did not appear against her. Second, tho minister, who officiated at the first marriage, failed to identify her on thes tand. as she was but fifteen years old when first married.

Third, the old blue retarding a five-years disappearance of a spouse being a desertion equivalent to death. Fourth, she ia about to become a mother of the first-born of the husband, John B. Fifth, tho unwaverlnE love and fidelity of her who would have sold everything he pns sessed in the world, even the shirt from his back to restore her to lib erty. 1 1 Uuniors of charges against her first husband, also fgured. In tho conclu slnn of the State authorities to re lease the woman, technically on her own recognizance, but practically for good and all, nnd to begin proceedings) in divorcement from Hoffman.

MAY COMBINE SOME REVENUE DISTRICTS By THE JOURNAL'S Special Wire. WASHINGTON, Oct. 14-Commls sloner Capers, of the Internal Revenue Bureau, has under consideration the re-, arrangement and consolidation for rev enue collection purposes, of a number of Southern and Southwestern States. The constitution of Oklahoma, which was recently, adopted, absolutely pro hibits the sale of intoxicating liquors as a beverage within the state's bor ders, and on January 1, 1908, complete prohibition goes Into effect In Geor gia. South Carolina, by recent ac tion of the state, is partly prohibition and partly tinder the dispensary sys tem.

To meet these changed conditions the Commissioner has in contemplation the consolidation of Oklahoma with Ar kansas as one revenue division; Geor gia and South1 Carolina as another; Mississippi and Louisiana and possibly Alabama as a third. As an alterna tive Alabama may be consolidated with Florida. Collector Gokisborough's 6fflce Is not threatened. It includes' Maryland, Delaware, two counties of Virginia and the District of Columbia; and while Delaware is to vote prohibition next November, and while the District of Columbia may be, made "dry," if ever Congress Is forced to vote on subject, there is no present likelihood that the Legislature of Maryland will enact a. law forbidding the itianufao ture of whiskey or beer in" Maryland whatever restrictions may be placed upon the sale.
