Cullen arose at 4:15o'clock this morn ing, procured a long dirk and went his wife's room and plunged the k n into her body, inflicting wounds from which sbe died almost instantlv. The boy, who is about IS years old, awakened by Cullen's entrance and the dagger, which was still dripping with his mother's blood. His step father attempted to stab the lad, hut he evaded the blow that was intended strike him dead. A Dght ensued for possession of the knife, Cullen finally pulling a revolver and fired at the point blank. The b u l k t struck Eastman m the right eye and passed into the brain, causing instantaneous death TUKXTD GUN OK SELF. After making sure that both wife and son were dead, Cnllen turned the weapou on himself and attempted to put a bullet through his brain. Either through Jack of nerve or excitement he aimed too high and two bullets ed through his scalp near the crown his head. The wonnds are severe, but are not considered serious. Cullen has bten placed in the county jail. His guilt is so firmly established tbat his conviction of double murder in the degree is a foregoing conclusion. He will be closely guarded lest he again attempt self destruction. DOMESTIC TROUBLES THE CAUSE. While the exact circumstances leading u p to the murder are not fully k n o w n , it is believed family tribula tions are responsible. It is known that ullen and his wife had quarreled fre quently and that the woman's o w n by a former marriage usually took her part. It is thought this is why Cullen lesired to end the lives of both.
