The Indians mad a descent near this place on the 5th inst. and run off with twenty - five head of mules belonging to Fort Bliss, one mile from this place. Lieuta. Lazelle and Dubois have gone in pursuit with a eompany of Rifles and Infantry, but I am fearful thev will not bo able to overtake them. On the Cth, Mr. Brad. Daily, travelingin a carriage with his wife, about twenty rtliles from here, was attacLed by eight Indians, and, after a sharp couflict. was enabled to escape escape with his lady, but losing his horses. Since the campaign on the river Gila last summer and the withdrawal of the troops from that section, the Indians have becom ; verv daring, and I am affaid they will molest ' us during the winter mouths. The appointment of Col. A. B. O'Bannon, by Secretary Cobb, Receiver of the Customs at the port of Franklin, El Paso county, Texas, has given universal satisfaction throughout this connty and New Mexico. Col. O'Bannon emigrated from South Carolina Carolina more than three years ago, and possesses many noble qualities of head and heart. Indeed, Indeed, he is the man for the place and the country.
