(Leer) Hsst, me proud beauty, et's visit Scarlet Gulch, hm? In a hilarious departure from today's "think" plays, Rossmoor Players will slink, lurk, trot and stalk through four performances of a musical melodrama, "The Romance of Scarlet Gulch" opening (tomorrow) Friday night in Oak Junior High School auditorium, Los Alamitos. Audiences can give vent to their feelings feelings by hissing the villain and cheering the hero also on Saturday and March 15 and 16 at 8 p.m. Jeanette N. Blue directs the cast of 35; Ray Elston is in charge of musical direction direction for the drama members of Rossmoor Rossmoor Woman's Club. With a gold rush days setting, the rollicking rollicking melodrama is interwoven with oleo acts rather than presenting them after after the final ; curtain' in the traditional manner. The musical was written by Carol Carol Crisler, formerly of Santa Monica and now of Reno, Nev., for the state's centennial centennial celebration in 1949-51. IN THE ROSSMOOR production, Robert Reed plays Handsome Harry the Sheriff and Robert de Paszthory is the villainous saloon keeper, Jack Dalton. The pure heroine, Lily White, is portrayed portrayed by Jean, de Paszthory; Sharon Berg is the fiery Rosita and Merle Keil portrays Widow White. Others in the cast are Marvin Becson, Jim Robinson, Joye Cox, Dona Giljohann, Betty Jones, Gordon Cappanelli, Marlene Robinson, John Drew, Barbara White, Ken Keil, Marilyn Reed, Maurine Wasko, Barbara Orrill, Therese Schoen, Pat Ketchum, Joan Orrett and Rem Ketchum. The choral club's choral section is providing providing some of the oleo numbers. Tickets may be obtained from Mrs. Robert Orrill, ticket chairman, the Rossmoor-Los Alamitos Library and Rossmoor Women's Club chairmen. The melodrama's proceeds will benefit benefit the club's various charities. YESTERYEAR'S WHOLESOME (?)
