Batson To Exceed 10 Per Cent Slash in District Seven DENVER. Ill-- Avery A. Batson, regional director here of the U. S. Reclamation Bureau, said Friday that he will go beyond a 10 per cent personal cut ordered by tie Interior Depart ment. Batson said he would reduce his staff by about 16 per cent by June 30. The Washington order directed him to abolish 193 jobs in'Begion 7, embracing Colorado east ot the Continental Divide, Southeastern Wyoming, Western Nebraska and Northern Kansas. There are about 1,900 bureau jobs In the region. Batsou said earlier orders were to reduce the regional force by 306 jobs. Later, he said he was Informed that 113 of those jobs could be retained. But he said he. plans to keep few Jobs in the latter group filled. Batson Indicated that Denver and Casper, Wyo,, offices and. Ainsworth and Grand Island, Neb., branches may be consolidated for personnel economy. The regional director is working on a breakdown of where the job cuts will hit. He said at present the Denver District office has 650 employes, the Denver Regional Office 120, Pueblo, Colo., 16, Ains- woth 40, Casper 350. Grand Island 130 and McCook, Neb., 600. by
