 - 75-lb Watermelon On Exhibit Here Saturday Chas....
75-lb Watermelon On Exhibit Here Saturday Chas. Rahlwes, who ranks next to Chas. Frazer as a watermelon raiser, called us out Saturday last to see a 75-pound melon he had just brought In to Chas. Herder. It will be remembered remembered that Chas. Frazer last season brought to town a melon weighing 100% pounds. This melon he sold to Chas. Herder. (Quite a bunch of Charlies getting mixed up in this item, you will note.) Well, Charlie Rahlwes ;ot a glimpse of that melon and he talked Charlie Herder out of a slice of it. He saved the seeds from this slice, planted them and now is "reaping the liarvest". S He promised Charlie Herder a/ffne melon out of the ones he proposed to raise from the seed, and the one he brought in Saturday was the first. Well, it was a beauty all right, and a perfect duplicate in appearance of the parent melon. Charlie Rahlwes says tie will have some of these melons for the market before long. He has even larger melons than the one he brought in, we understand, but they are not yet ripe. Well, he has promised to furnish us with one or two of the same kind before long, and so we'll take off our hat to Charlie Rahlwes, another champion melon raiser._
