In this five-part Pathe Gold Rooster play, Arnold Daly assumes the role of "Ashton-Klrk, Investigator." Sheldon Lewis will be seen In support ot Arnold Daly In this timely photoplay, which has to do with Ashton-Klrk, a young man of high social standing and great wealth; he is a deep student and learned In the lore of ancient Unlets and forgotten books. His keen mind delights In those mysteries which have proven too shadowy for the police. He finds Joy In the hunt; there is a thrill In matching his Intelligence against the craft of the criminal. In "An Affair of Three Nations" his swift mind and sure touch are suld to prevent an International crisis. Count DrevenofTs dissolute son Is offered a large sum of money by the head of the Japanese spy system In Washington, to deliver to him a secret treaty In Count DrevenofTs possession. This treaty was supposed to have been made between Russia and the United States when Russia was falling from disaster to disaster In her war with Japan, and would cause a grave break between Japan and the United States, should the former get possession of lty The son succeeds In getting the paper, but Is discovered by his father . Count Drevenoff Is accused of stealing the treaty and is sent to Russia In disgrace. He goes to war, where he is finally killed. The paper falls Into the hands of Dr. Morse, an American sur geon, serving with the Russtan army. A Jap spy sees this. Sometime later, In America, Morse Is murdered. Ashton-Klrk takes up the case, and after he is sold to unravel many mysteries and having some extremely exciting experiences, manages to aave the treaty from falling into the wrong hands, thus averting war. A Bray cartoon comedy will be shown In connection with "An Affair of Three Nations" today at the Galax. 'The Abandonment." will be the chief attraction at the Strand today. This five-part feature Is said to be remarkably directed and capably acted by its stars, Helene Rosson and E. Forrest TayloT. Many Broadway stars assist both Miss Rosson and Mr. Taylor In this production. and throughout the entire five acts the photography Is said to be beautl fill. The Strand orchestra assists "The Abandonment" today with late popular musical hits and other selec tions. Edmund Breese, the popular eminent actor of the Metro forces. will be seen In his one great success, "The Spell of the Yukon," so the management states.
