B 310 to amend the charter of the Blount Airy Bailroad and provide for the buildiDg of a raih'oal from Greensboro to Ore Knob in Ashe county. Mr. Scales explained that this amen.lment to the charter was simply simply asking for 150 convicts instead of' 100. Mr. Henderson wanted all roads o share alike and some definite arrangement arrangement in each railroad bill in regard to convicts to regulate the number, their pay, &( Mr. -Caldwell said this was one of the most important roads that could bo conceived of aud would be of inestimable inestimable value to North Carolina. This would be a road that would drain the very garden of the State and not only this it tapped . directly the great, mineral deposits and led direct to the great healiug fountains of the State. Mr. Mebane moved to amend so as to require the road to go by Cedar Falls Factory, in Randolph county, Lost. After a long discussion the bill finally pa3sed its third reading. ! i
