Har- 'old Blair Rossow, 22, ball turret gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress, has won the Distinguished Flying Cross for "extraordinary achievement. ... .cool courage and devotion to duty" during the Eighth Air Force bombing attacks on military and industrial targets in Germany, and Nazi occupied Europe Sgt. Rossow is a'veteran of many heavy bombardment missions in the European theater of operations, including aerial assaults on Nazi airfields, buzz bomb launching platforms, munition manufac turing plants and tactical targets In support of'the Allied armies on the road to Berlin. A member of the Third Bom bardment Division, cited by the President for its now historic Eng land-Africa shuttle bombing of Messerschmitt plants at Regensburg, Germany, in 1913, Sgt. Rossow holds the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters for "meritorious achievment" during aerial warfare. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rossow of Lohrville, he was employed by-Glenn L. Martin aircraft at Baltimore before entering the service in 1942.
