CHADWICK—Elmer Rahn's field goal in the last minute of play gave the Chadwick Silver Streaks a 72-71 triumph over Thomson in the Chadwick district basketball tournament Thursday night. By virtue of the victory, the Streaks will play Shannon tonight at 7:30 p.m. for the Chadwick championship and for the right to meet Morrison next week in the Morrison regional. Shannon won its first-round game Wednesday night, downing Pearl City, 76-49. Fast Start Chadwick jumped into a quick lead Thursday, taking a 25-12 margin at the end of the first quarter. Thomson roared back with a 23-point second quarter effort to go on top at the half, 35-34. Throughout the remainder of the game, the contest was close with Thomson retaining a 57-55 edge entering the fourth quarter. Rahn's basket finally decided the issue and sent Coach Roy Colbert's crew into the district final. Ron Geison led Chadwick offensively with 23 points followed by Paul Newendyke with 18 and John Janssen with 15. Thomson's Howard Prins took the scoring leadership for the evening with 15 goals and 3 free throws for 33 points. Dale Zenk added 17 to the losing cause.
