Chauncey Cleland Jr
CHAUNCEY JOHN OLE- LAND JR., 78, Marion Center RD 1 died Monday, Dec. 2, 1974, at Ft. Myers, Fla. A son of Chauncey John and Martha M. Ross Cleland, he was born March 29, 1896 in Pittsburgh. Mr. Cleland was a member of Homewood Lodge 635, F&AM; Homewood Royal Arch Chapter 297; Marion Center Lions Club; D.A.V. Chapter 20; and had been a director of the AAA of Indiana for many years. He had been postmaster in Marion Center before his retirement. Mr. Cleland was a WW I veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He had resided at his present address since 1936. Surviving are a son. Chauncey John. Ill, Home; two daughters: Mrs. Jack (Doris) Bush, Indiana; Mrs. Fred (Phyllis) MacMahon, San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Arthur Bash, Verona; two sisters: Mrs. Vera Kohlhammer, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Dorothy Pottorff. Ft. Myers, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife. Jennie P. Cleland, who died in 1968; a brother, William T. Cleland; and two sisters: Mrs. Minnie Johnson and Mrs. Maude Byrne. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Robinson-Lytle's, Indiana, where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard P. Cooper, officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
