Tuwdoy, October 19, 1965 Algona (la.) Upper DM Molnw The City Council met Oct. 13, 1965 with Mayor Finn and the following named council members: Muckey, Andreasen, Elbert, Cook, Miller and Pelrce. Absent none. Minutes of last meeting were approved. Mrs. Finn, Mrs. Andreasen and Mrs. Cook, representing the League of Women Voters, attended the council meeting. Resol. approving the sale of a portion of vacated Ackley street to Norbert Blerstedt was adopted. Resol. approving the report by Wallace Holland Kastler and Schmitz, engineers for the 1965 storm sewer project, was adopted. Resol. approving the certificate of levy of special assessment for curb and gutter construction was adopted. Motion moved and seconded the meeting adjourn. D. A. These are outstanding heifers, well grown, good condition with excellent udder promise. Mostly sired by a M. J. Lein sire. 10 open heifers — from 6 to 18 mo. old. 6 heifer calves, July and Aug., calves just right for 4-H or FFA. More, both heifers and bull calves by sale day. NOTE — This herd was established 41 years ago. It has been on test continuously for 33 years. The breeding plan was to develop a profitable, practical Farmer-Dairyman herd of lifetime producers. The outstanding results below are evidence of a successful achievement. The herd sire, Finchcrest Prince has left a great influence in the herd with six lifetime daughters selling, 5 over 600 Ibs. fat all with lifetime from 2,400 to 4,000 Ibs. fat having an average test of about 4%. A recent herd sire, to which most of the cows are bred and most of the yearlings and calves are sired by is a grandson of Carnation Butter Boy and the "Excellent" many times Iowa Champion cow, Perry Carnation Hoesly 4,419 fat, 4.1% lifetime. At present about half of the herd are bred to Mid-West Genes top sires. Few herds have done as much with lifetime production as has Herman Soderberg.
