Ognjan was single. by mark lowery Free Press Stafl Writer Two years after their mysterious disappearance, Helen Ognjan refuses to relinquish hopes that her son, Brian, and his lifelong friend David Tyll will be found, dead or alive.

Since November 1985, when Brian Ognjan, of St. Clair Shores, and David Tyll, of Troy, were last seen cashing a $50 check before departing on a hunting trip to western Michigan, Helen and George Ognjan have distributed more than 4,000 fliers seeking information about the two. Every week, they contact local and state police to inquire about new leads. "We have faith in God, and we are praying that they will eventually return. We are pleading for someone to Brian Ognjan David Tyll machinist, said they were headed for a weekend of deer hunting in Newaygo County.

The pair, both 27, met Nov. 22, 1985, at Ognjan's house and packed hunting gear into Tyll's black 1980 Ford Bronco, police said. Ognjan then cashed his $50 check at a nearby bank. "After that, they vanished," said Troy Police Officer Phil Steele. They were reported missing three days later.

The Bronco was never found. Were they involved in an accident, or murdered and the truck concealed or taken out of state? Or did the two men decide to abandon their comfortable middle-class lives? Steele said it was unlikely the men purposely vanished. Neither Ognjan's savings account nor Tyll's credit card has been used in the past two years, he said. Tyll's wife, Denise, who could not be reached for comment, was granted a divorce in Oakland County Circuit "Not having any answers or any clues leaves a little bit of hope that they may still be alive," said Catherine Tyll, of Detroit. "But Dave was or is I'm not sure what I mean a good person, and it's hard to believe he would deliberately go away." "It's on the shelf right now.

There's, just been nothing," said Detective Lt. Gus Blumline of the St. Clair Shores police. "We've exhausted all our leads." Ognjan, a mechanic, and Tyll, a come forward with some information, any information that will help the police solve this case," said Helen Ognjan, of Roscommon. David parents, Arthur and Cather ine Tyll, also cling to their hopes.
