Schmickinp, 20, Swea City, sustained facial cuts when the auto ho was drivinp hit loose pravel and si ammo. I into a ditch 1 1 2 miles south and three miles east of Ami- strong at 1 a. m. Saturday. HP was treated by an Armstrong doctor ami released. He was headed east at the time of the mishap. Damapp to his auto was estimated at" $200 by Patrolman Charles Bird who investigated. At 10:30 p. m. the same day, a car driven by Warren r. Kellenberger, 16, Algona, struck a parked car owned by Richard H. Moe, 30, Algona, on Hall street, resulting in $150 damage to the Kellenberger auto and $110 damage to the Moe machine. City police Investigated and charged Kellenberger with failing to have control. At 5:05 p. m. Friday, cars driven by Kathleen A. Elbert, 17, Rodman, and lone L. Kenne, Whittemore, collided at Wliitte- more, resulting in an estimated $240 damage to the autos. Patrolman Bird investigated. Rites Tuesday At Whittemore For Mrs. Volk Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Volk, 87, were held last Tuesday morning at St. Michael's Catholic church, Whittemore, with Father Philip Dailey officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery with Hyink funeral home in charge. Pallbearers were Wayne Henbert, Francis Kollasch, Melviu Henry, Earl Elbert, W. 0. Elbert and Bob Detrick. She was born on April 10, 1878 in Metamora, m. Mr. Volk is dead. She is survived by a son, John A. Volk, Fort Dodge, and five grandchildren. Mrs. Volk died at the Maple leaf rest home at Burt where she had lived for some time. Social Security Help During October, social security representatives will be in the Courthouse in Algona on two days, Oct. 14 and 28, between the hours of 9:30 a. m. and 12:30 p. m. for those wishing information or help. SHERYL HARR Mrs. Maurine Harr of Wesley announces the engagement and approaching marriage of her daughter, Sheryl, to Richard J.Thul, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Thul of St. Joe. Miss Harr Is a graduate of Corwith-Wesley high school and is clerk of the Kossuth county Selective Service System. Ho is a graduate of Garrigan high school and is presently employed by Reding's Gravel and Excavating in Algona. An Oct. 23 wedding is being planned. Elections Held By Burt Classes High school and junior high school class officers have been named at Burt.
