He was an Air Force flight surgeon In 1958 and 1959.

A pediatrician in private practice, he was past president of the Detroit Pediatrics Society and on the boards of directors at St. John Hospital and Children's Hospital of Michigan. He leaves his wife, Shirley; a daughter, Laura Jean Slim; his mother, Mrs. Lela French, and a sister. Services will be held at 2 p.m.

Saturday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Grosse Pointe Woods. Marie Cheff; owned foster care homes Marie L. Cheff, former owner of several adult Harry Golden dies at 78 Ned Wright, 55, singer, actor Ned Wright, 55, singer, actor and teacher, formerly of Detroit, died after suffering a heart attack Monday in Washington, while appearing with Black Nativity at the Ford Theater.

Wright was born in Rossford, a suburb of Toledo. He graduated from Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio, and Juilliard Music School in New York City. He joined the Harry Belafonte Company for several years and then toured the world for the State Department with a production of Porgy and Bess, according to John Peters, Wright's former manager. In the early 1960s, Wright came to Detroit and organized the Phoenix Singers from a group of inner-city young men. The group made many appearances on local television and at community events, including performances at Raven Gallery.

Many of the singers, including Mr. Wright, were prominent in the Michigan Opera production of "Porgy and Bess." His last appearance in Detroit was last year in a1 production of "Porgy and Bess," which he coached for Highland Park Junior College. Survivors include two sisters and three brothers. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Jones Mortuary, 2268 Auburn, Toledo.

Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery, Toledo. A memorial service will be held Monday in New York City. Harry Golden, who campaigned for civil rights as publisher of the Carolina Israelite newspaper and gained nationaf fame with his best-selling books, died Friday in Charlotte, N.C. He was 78. He gained a wide "readership with his folksy, non-fiction books, including "Only in America" and "For 2 Cents Plain." Pleinflomg flotme is foster care homes in Detroit, died Wednesday at the home of her daughter in Kalistell, Mont.

She was 91. Cheff and her husband moved to Detroit in 1937, and operated several homes over the years. In 1980, she moved to Kalistell. Surviving are eleven sons, Rex Vern, Floyd Chris Louie Ovila Charles, James, Herman, Clarence Raymond A. and Harry; three daughters, Bernida D.

Frank L. Vogel, food service executive Retired food service company executive Frank L. Vogel of West Bloomfield died Wednesday at home of an apparent heart attack. He was 65. Mr.

Vogel had lived in Detroit all his life until he moved to West Bloomfield six years ago. He retired in 1 980 as a senior executive with the Consolidated Foods Company. He served on the board of directors of St. Paul of the Cross Retreat House and was ah active member of the Oakland County Citizens League. Surviving are his wife, Maureen; five sons, Frank Jr.

of Brighton, Thomas of Lathrup Village, Michael of Brighton, Richard of Farmington Hills and Christopher of West Bloomfield; three daughters, Judith Marmalad of Brighton, Joan Spinney of Harbor Springs, and Maureen Kelly of Birmingham; a brother, and 14 grandchildren. Services will be at 1 1 1 5 a.m. Saturday at the Ted C. Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River, Novi. A service will follow at noon at St.

Paul of the Cross Monastery. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield. Contributions may be made in Mr. Vogel's name to the St. Paul of the Cross Monastery, 23300 Davison Detroit, 48223.

Mary Hospital in Livonia. Mr. Wozniak, a Livonia resident, lived in Dearborn most of his life. He was a mechanical engineer for 30 years with the international division of the Ford Motor Co. He supervised the construction of conveyer systems in several Ford factories in Europe and North America.

He retired in 1966. He was an honorary member of the Bishop Foley Council, Knights of Columbus, and the Msgr. Schulte Fourth Degree Assembly. Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth Joan Horn; a granddaughter, and four sisters. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Saturday in St. Alphonsus Church, 13540 Gould, Dearborn.
