machine is responsible rupture between tit wo irst Christian church so rupture in fact that a church trial of tone of the parties may result The individuals at outs are none other than 'Elder James Wisihart and Deacon Robert Dey both of whom have figured prominently ini the affairs of the the past or four years Up itiill two weeks ago yesterday they had the warmest friends in church as well as in social and business affairs but be cause of the gold woshing machine re ferred to they are now anxious to avoid each other as much as possible As is very generally known Wish art is engaged in the sale of a patent gold washing machine Naturally he looked for trade from among his friends Not ton since Deacon Dey ouit of friendship for Wishart sent a customer arourfcT purchased a machine Later this customer in turn sent others around who also pur chased machines 'On the morning of the falling out two weeks ago Elder Wishart and 'Deacon Dey were both in a street car with itheir families bound for church Deacon Dey so the story goes brought up the subject of the 'machines andasked Elder Wiishart how much com mission! was going to be paid him (Dey) for the customers To this El der Wishart is said to have replied that Deacon Dey was entitled to the commission on one pachine which 'would be paid at an' early date On this point however there was a clash of opinion Deacon Dey thought the customers whom hisfirst customer sent Elder Wisharti should yield com mission too Elder Wishart did not see the matter that way inally the discussion which had continued after the two men and their families had left the car grew so heated that Deacon Deiiy became angered at Elder Wishart and is said to haye jCalled him sortie kind of a liar Eldqiv Wishart called upon the two wives present to bear him witness that Deacon Dey had re ferred to him as some kind of a liar but Dey is said to have averred that it was just plain However no matter whether the term if used by Dey was qualified or not the fact remains the same that Elder feelings were so hurtthat he considered hiS only redress lay in summoning Deacon Dey before the iCh'urch Council to stand trial for his alleged offense Charges have been prepared against Dey and meanwhile Elder Wishant has his attendance upon divine services ba cause as he said to a friend there were occasions when he might be ask ed to lead in prayer and he did not know as he cared to pray for every body On the other hand Deacon Dey has little to say save that he has no very high opinion of Elder Wishart as a church man If the charges are pressed Dey intimates that there areothers beside Wishartwho can talk Meanwhile the people of the little congregation are very much disturbed and chagrined at turn matters have taken Coming so soon after the disclosures concerning the domestic affairs of their pastor Rev Guy Smith this latest trouble is most un welcome In all probability an effort will be made to hush matters up 11 Deaths
