Atgono, (la.) Upper Dei Motiw Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1965 Iowa Interstate Hassle Into Public Hearing Sept. 29 Session At Clear Lake In Big Battle AMES, IOWA - Public hearing on the proposed corridor for Interstate 35 in northern Iowa will be held at Clear Lake on September 29, and those attending will learn for the first time of the scope of Commission studies on various proposed routes extending over the past two years. The routes are illustrated on the adjacent map. The Commission on Sept. 1, approved the hearing for a proposed corridor which will send the big highway between Clear Lake and Mason City. The hearing September 29 is scheduled to start a 2 p. m. at the All Veterans Social Center, 2110 North Shore Drive. Engineers of the Commission will present the results of one of the most intensive interstate highway studies ever made. More than 20 routes were considered or studied over a period of two years. The studies involved traffic, constructions costs and road user benefit data on 18 route locations between U. S. 20 and Albert Lea, Minnesota. Each of the seven lines drawing final consideration, and those eliminated earlier in the studies, involved "diagonals" of varying length at some place along the study routes between U. S. 20 and Albert Lea, Minnesota. One of the seven lines, No. VI, parallels U. S. 69 to the vicinity of Lake Mills before crossing the state line and continued on a diagonal in Minnesota. This is the route favored by areas west of Clear Lake. No. Vin, the line proposed by the Commission on Sept. 1, and on which the Sept. 29 hearing will be held, starts its diagonal about seven miles north of Williams WE'RE HATCHING OUT THE NEW ONES FOR '66!
